Share The Gospel With Others

But you are the ones chosen by God, chosen for the high calling of priestly work, chosen to be a holy people, God’s instruments to do his work and speak out for him, to tell others of the night-and-day difference he made for you—from nothing to something, from rejected to accepted.” 1 Peter 2:9.

Sometimes sharing about God seems more of a task than a life-giving joy. We find it burdensome and tend to shy away from it. One of the reasons we may not share the Good News is because we are scared of what other people might think. Or we might seek to share about God but don’t know where to start.

The Importance Of Sharing The Gospel With Others

Is proclaiming the Gospel really a part of our call as Christians?

You Are God’s Chosen People

Yes! The reason we are God’s chosen people is to tell the world about Him. God entrusted His work to us. The joy of coming to know Christ is that we now have eyes to see God’s marvelous light and can proclaim it to others.

“Jesus summed it all up when he cried out, “Whoever believes in me, believes not just in me but in the One who sent me. Whoever looks at me is looking, in fact, at the One who sent me. I am Light that has come into the world so that all who believe in me won’t have to stay any longer in the dark.” John 12:46.

The beauty of the Gospel is that it is intimate. God meets us where we are at and reveals our sin. Jesus on the cross and through the resurrection allows us into a close, intimate relationship with God. This was never meant to be kept a secret.

“Don’t be intimidated. Eventually, everything is going to be out in the open, and everyone will know how things really are. So don’t hesitate to go public now.” Matthew 10:27

You Were Called Out Of Darkness

Every Christian has been called out of darkness yet we are instructed to speak of the great work of Jesus to those still living in it.

Just because we profess with our tongues that Jesus is Lord, does not mean we are not sinners. We need to understand that we were once in darkness, like those we are trying to talk to.

However, we know that Jesus died for our sins so that we may be forgiven and made new. This is where we can put our hope and faith.

“God rescued us from dead-end alleys and dark dungeons. He’s set us up in the kingdom of the Son he loves so much, the Son who got us out of the pit we were in, got rid of the sins we were doomed to keep repeating.” Colossians 1:13.

We can relate and come humbly before those we want to share the Good News with because we know what it is like to walk alone without knowing Christ.

How To Start Sharing The Gospel

Examine Your Heart

One of the ways to share your faith is to live according to what the Bible says. Before you want to share and be a light to others, examine your own heart. We will never be perfect but we need to address our own sin and repent.

“Test yourselves to make sure you are solid in the faith. Don’t drift along taking everything for granted. Give yourselves regular checkups. You need first-hand evidence, not mere hearsay, that Jesus Christ is in you. Test it out. If you fail the test, do something about it.” 2 Corinthians 13:5-6.

Consider your source of entertainment, where you might choose to hang out and watch your social media presence. These all effect if people will believe you because you may say one thing but do another.

When moments present themselves to share the Good News, turn back to your faith and what makes God trustworthy and praiseworthy. Once you desire God for who He is and grow in your love for him, you will not be able to keep yourself from sharing with others.

Trust God To Lead You

Even though we are responsible for sharing our faith and the works of God, we are not responsible for changing people’s hearts, God is. This is a burden lifted off our shoulders and allows us to approach our conversations in a whole new way.

“And don’t worry about what you’ll say or how you’ll say it. The right words will be there; the Spirit of your Father will supply the words.” Matthew 10:20.

Because alone we can’t open people’s hearts to the Gospel, only God can by the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit will lead your conversation as your share with others.

Sharing with someone else is something we should look forward to! God wants us to radiate His Glory to others. Pray that God will continue to work in their lives and that they will come to trust in Jesus Christ forever.
