Fall is officially upon us. The nights are getting cooler. The trees are in the midst of changing their colors. All combined with the smell of pumpkin spice everything, apple picking, and celebrations of harvest, you have got yourself a season to enjoy. I love this time of year!
A common theme during this time of year is the harvest. The harvest time is when you reap what you sow. It means something you pick or gather. The first harvest was the earliest and best crop.

There are a large number of people who are ready to receive the kingdom message but the workers are few (Luke 10:2). We need more believers who are committed to sharing the message of the Kingdom of God. The time is now – God will equip you with the skills you need for harvest time. No matter who reaps, God alone deserves the glory.
God is the Lord of the harvest. He provides us just what we need on a daily basis. Everything in our lives rightfully belongs to Him. In this season of life, we look forward to what is and what is to come.
Bible Verses About Harvest
Those who honor God with their wealth will receive more to honor Him (Proverbs 3:9-10). A way we can honor God is to use our bounty to bless others. What we have belongs to the God of the harvest. Our jobs, our money, our spouses, and children. It is all His. God is the Lord of the Harvest.
Matthew 13:30: Let both grow together until the harvest, and at harvest time I will tell the reapers, “Gather the weeds first and bind them in bundles to be burned but gather the wheat into my barn.”
Luke 8:15: As for that in the good soil, they are those who, hearing the word, hold it fast in an honest and good heart, and bear fruit with patience.
Ecclesiastes 3:1: For everything, there is a season and a time for every matter under heaven.
Genesis 8:22: While the earth remains, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, day and night, shall not cease.”
Psalm 67:6: The earth has yielded its increase; God, our God, shall bless us.
Proverbs 6:8: She prepares her bread in summer and gathers her food in harvest.
Galatians 6:8-9: For the one who sows to his own flesh will from the flesh reap corruption, but the one who sows to the Spirit will from the Spirit reap eternal life. And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.
Psalm 107:37: They sow fields and plant vineyards and get a fruitful yield.

Bible Verses About the Need for Harvesters
In Luke 10:2, we see that Jesus saw a need for more laborers to take the Good News of the Gospel to the far reaches of the world. Prayers were needed to meet this need. As a believer, God has chosen you to participate in His redemptive work. Our goal is to see God do the impossible through us so that others might be reconciled into His family. He sees potential in YOU to help carry out the Great Commission (Mark 16:15). He wants to use you to have an amazing impact on the world. In this day and age, we can share the Good News of the Gospel across multiple platforms. The harvest is plenty and there are people out there who are eager to hear what you have to say.
Luke 10:2: And he said to them, “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few. Therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest.
Psalm 85:12: Yes, the Lord will give what is good, and our land will yield its increase.
Isaiah 9:3: You have multiplied the nation; you have increased its joy; they rejoice before you as with joy at the harvest, as they are glad when they divide the spoil.
Psalm 126:5: Those who sow in tears shall reap with shouts of joy!
Matthew 6:26: Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?
James 3:18: And a harvest of righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace.
Lord of the Harvest Scripture
In Matthew, we see that Jesus identifies himself as the “Lord of the Harvest.” (Matthew 9:37-38). People without Christ are like sheep without a shepherd. Without Christ, unbelievers have no hope of eternal life. There is a need now more than ever for people to come to know the Lord of the Harvest, the Good Shepherd, Emmanuel, our Savior – Jesus Christ. He is ushering in a new age, a time of swift abundant harvest.
John 4:35: Do you not say, ‘There are yet four months, then comes the harvest’? Look, I tell you, lift up your eyes, and see that the fields are ripe for harvest.
Matthew 13:37-38: He answered, “The one who sows the good seed is the Son of Man. The field is the world, and the good seed is the sons of the kingdom. The weeds are the sons of the evil one”
2 Corinthians 9:10: He who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will supply and multiply your seed for sowing and increase the harvest of your righteousness.
The harvest is too plentiful for us not to respond to God’s call to spread the Gospel. Just like Jesus, we should be overwhelmed with the love and compassion towards people to bring them to know Him. Jesus needs laborers to bring in the harvest. As Christians, we are commissioned to make sure the laborers are not too few and the harvest is plenty.
I pray that you will take your mission field – whether that is your home, your work, your sewing club, or soccer club – as an opportunity to share the Gospel. While our job is not to guarantee the harvest – that’s God’s job – we can at least tell people about the Lord of the Harvest.
