What is a Christian Vision Board
A vision board is a visual reminder of the goals, plans, and purposes you want for the year ahead. A vision board allows us to set a mental picture of where we would like to go. It helps us maintain focus and clarity.
Why is it important to make a Christian vision board
Making a visual representation of your hopes and dreams will ignite your fire to make them a reality. You can envision on paper all that God has in store for you.
Setting a life vision can help keep you focused. It gives you a direction to move towards your goals. It helps you decide how you spend your time.
Once you clarify your purpose, you will move with much more ease. A vision tells you exactly what habits you will build to prepare for it. Discover your vision and purpose and allow God to do His work in and through you.
How to make a vision board
Creating a vision board can be very helpful to get what you want for your life out on paper. You can post it on your desk or refrigerator or mirror to remind you of what you are working towards.
Identify what is important to you
Figure out what is important to you. A vision statement helps us focus on what matters. Ask questions like:
What do you believe in?
What do you value?
What legacy do you want to leave?
Write a vision statement
It’s as simple as writing a vision statement. Once written down, it becomes a reality and your guide to make decisions in the future. A personal vision statement will also help you set healthy boundaries by serving as a “GPS guidance system.”
Example vision statements:
Ikea: “Our vision is to create a better everyday life for many people.”
Starbucks: “Treat people like family, and they will be loyal and their all.”
Oxfam: “A world without poverty.”
Dr. King (paraphrased): “A world where people are judged by the content of their character rather than the color of their skin.”
“To educate parents all over the world how to raise children that will be well prepared for all the challenges they will face in their generation.”
Best Tips to Write your Vision Statement
Block off time to write your personal vision statement. The goal is to simply write down what is most important to you.
- Be concise: keep your vision statement short and simple.
- Be clear: focus on one primary goal and be clear about what you want to achieve.
- Be challenging: God desires for us to achieve our dreams that align with his will. Don’t be scared to make your vision challenging because God will be there every step of the way.
Outline your steps
Now that you have your vision statement written down, outline what steps you will take to make it a reality. Don’t rush through this part. Let God lead you through the process to achieve your goals. He has plan for you to prosper.
When you outline your steps, you can go back throughout the year and reflect on God’s faithfulness. So fully lean on Him to outline your steps and trust Him to guide your steps.
What should a Christian vision board include:
There are so many directions you can take to your Christian vision board. A vision board is very personal to where you feel God is calling you to. It puts images and words into your passions and dreams.
Before you create your vision board, you can take the time to brainstorm and dump all of the information onto a piece of paper. This will help you process and align your vision with God’s will.
Christian vision board checklist
I am all about getting a big poster board and cutting out images from magazines to make a vision board. You can really look for images, words and scriptures that stand out to you.
Some things to use for your vision board:
- Posterboard
- Scissors
- Markers
- Glitter
- Glue, tape, or other adhesives
- Magazines
- Stickers
- Your Bible
- Additional creativity
You are going to want to store your vision board somewhere that will keep you motivated and inspired to achieve your goals.
Create an Environment to Help Your Vision
Think of a vision board as a form of self-care. Give yourself some time to think about your hopes and dreams for the new year.
The most important part of a vision board is to have fun with it!
Bible Verses about Vision Board
If you are stuck on creating a vision board, turn to the Bible for inspiration. God speaks through His Word and can help you select verses for creating your vision.
Habakkuk 2:2: Write the vision; make it plain on tablets, so he may run who reads it.
Proverbs 3:5: Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding.
Numbers 12:6: And he said, “Hear my words: If there is a prophet among you, I the Lord make myself known to him in a vision; I speak with him in a dream.
John 14:6: Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
1 Chronicles 16:11: Seek the Lord and his strength; seek his presence continually!
Prayer for Vision Board
To create a vision board you must be in constant communication with God. Trade the anxieties that come with a new year to peace that God’s plan is greater for your life.
“Lord, help me to submit to your will for my life. Give a glimpse into the vision of who you want me to be, where you want me to be and what you want me to do. I thank you for your guidance and wisdom as I set my vision for the year. Help me to trust you every step. Whatever I do, I want it to bring glory to your name. Amen.
God has an exceedingly abundant plan for your life. A vision board is a great way to display what God has put on your heart and soul.
