13 Bible Verses About Hard Work

We all know the value of hard work and dedication.

From the very beginning, God designed us for work. It is a major detail of God’s original plan. God gave us the tools and resources to accomplish His work.

God invites his people into his good work. His work is necessary work.

God wants to support us in all aspects of life so we learn to thrive. He has given us the special tools, talents, and gifts to accomplish hard work. If you put those to good work, it is an act of worship towards God.

The Bible is here to guide us and motivate us toward hard work. The Lord is always here and offering a helping hand.

These Bible verses are a good reminder for you to keep pressing on and work towards the reward in heaven.

Bible Verses about Hard Work

Working hard isn’t about earning approval because that has been secured by Jesus Christ. Whatever we do, should be for the glory of God. Find passion and joy in your work and remain steadfast in the Lord. Then you will see success and abundance.

Colossians 3:23-24: Whatever you do, do it enthusiastically, as something done for the Lord and not for men, knowing that you will receive the reward of an inheritance from the Lord. You serve the Lord Christ.

Philippians 2:14-15: Do everything without grumbling and arguing, so that you may be blameless and pure, children of God who are faultless in a crooked and perverted generation, among whom you shine like stars in the world.

Psalm 90:17: Let the favor of the Lord our God be on us; establish for us the work of our hands—
establish the work of our hands!

Romans 12:11: Do not lack diligence; be fervent in spirit; serve the Lord.

1 Corinthians 10:31: Therefore, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do everything for God’s glory.

Bible Verses about Reaping the Harvest

The Bible tells us to not grow weary of good work because one day we will reap the harvest in Christ. Our work should be done in joyful obedience. We should be good stewards of what we reap from our good work.

Galatians 6:9: So we must not get tired of doing good, for we will reap at the proper time if we don’t give up.

Psalm 128:2: You will surely eat what your hands have worked for. You will be happy,
and it will go well for you.

2 Timothy 2:6: The hardworking farmer ought to be the first to get a share of the crops.

Bible Verses about Perseverance

There is value in hard work. God has prepared the path before us for good work. God gives us His energy to persevere. God is working in and through you for His glory.

Hard work, faith, and dedication will pay off in the end. Perseverance is key!

Each day, focus on God, remember your purpose, and view your work as an act of obedient faith.

2 Timothy 4:7: I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.

Proverbs 16:3: Commit your activities to the Lord, and your plans will be achieved.

Bible Verses about Hard Work and Rest

Nowadays you can literally work from your phone 24/7. It is really hard to shut off. Wearing ourselves out for the sake of approval or material items will never earn us anything in the end. Working hard is about so much more than those things.

God created the world in six days and then he rested. Just as he rested, God also asks us to periodically rest from our hard work.

Humans need a rhythm of rest and work. Sabbath rest should follow hard work so that you can recharge and re-energize. By God’s grace, we have access to the kind of rest that He wants us to embody.

Exodus 20:11: For the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and everything in them in six days; then He rested on the seventh day. Therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and declared it holy.

Proverbs 12:11: The one who works his land will have plenty of food, but whoever chases fantasies lacks sense.

Leviticus 23:3: Work may be done for six days, but on the seventh day there must be a Sabbath of complete rest, a sacred assembly. You are not to do any work; it is a Sabbath to the Lord wherever you live.

Prayer for Hard Work

Prayer is the beginning of the work. We need God to guide us and give us the wisdom to do His good work.

“Lord, thank you for the blessing of hard work. Remind me daily that you are present in my work. I dedicate my work to you and need your wisdom daily to make the right choices that bring glory to your Name. Help me to show up with fairness, kindness, faithfulness, and integrity. Allow me to fully trust you in every aspect of my work. Let my goals and purposes align with your will. May I do all with excellence as I set out to serve You. Amen.”

  1. Makes me think about the Parable of the Workers in the Vineyard! We have to be waiting in the marketplace for Him to give us work! We’ve got to work the whole day to get the wage!
